What is iiChi and what does it mean?
- iiChiTM is a holistic, life-changing system of movements and skills working with your own internal energy (Chi) for reasons of
self-protection, setting and maintaining personal boundaries and
developing self-esteem.
- The use of iiYogaTM conscious eye movements sourced from Kriya Tibetan Yoga in iiChi TM training facilitate the ingraining of kinaesthetic (movement awareness) and proprioceptive (balance and co-ordination) sensations to enhance practical technique learning and communication skill acquisition
- The innovative learning format of Chi TM combining practical martial arts and yoga techniques developed through the collaboration of iiYoga founder Joshua Isaacs Smith and Floyd Brown was trialled in July 2007 at the ‘No Mind Festival’ in Angsbacka, Sweden to acclaimed success. www.dragontiger.co.uk
- Physical intervention principles are taught which enable the
effective protecting of oneself from harm. Practical movement applications
are sourced form an array of martial art and military self defence
systems.
- An empowered mind and body set are enabled in participants using
conscious eye movements to stimulate both sides of the brain.
- This facilitates both cognitive and motor skill learning to
enhance
the skill learning process.
Recently a four star London borough council Youth Offending Team benefited
from training to better equip themselves to cope whilst working with
potentially violent adolescents.

Testimonials:
‘I had always wanted to do some sort of self-defence course as a single woman, living by myself, coming home from the gym or work late at night, dark car parks, etc.
I participated in a group session of iiChi with Floyd, followed by 4 hours of personal sessions. I was amazed at how quickly I learnt some life-saving moves and at how I didn’t need to be physically strong to stand a chance against an attacker.
With the iiChi movements, one element is learning to ‘disable the attacker’ where although I felt like I wasn’t actually expending much force, I learnt to ‘transfer energy’ to inflict as much pain as possible to certain trigger points on the body giving myself a chance to escape.
The iiyoga movements used to ‘install’ the exercises are also unique and more importantly they work as I found my recollection of the moves from one session to the next very high.
Floyd is an excellent teacher and very patient, with a way of explaining the moves so simply that you can’t fail but to get it right after just a couple of attempts. He gave me the confidence and motivation to carry out the moves with conviction.
As much as I hope I will never have to use what I have learnt, just knowing that I have the tools to enable me to escape a potentially life-threatening situation is a feeling I believe all women should have!’
iiChi course participant - Deborah Simmons
‘I didn’t know what to expect it was very scary to me. It was like a part of me that was forgotten once that it was empowering, being coaxed out of me in a safe way - which was nice. Getting in touch with ‘yang’ in a more threatening way.
I enjoyed striking the pad and feeling my power whaich was also a little scary knowing and feeling I could hurt someone else. Floyd is an amazing teacher and is really good.’
iiChi course participant – Julie Cowgill
' We currently have four rapists attacking women
in Milton Keynes, so I welcomed the chance to
try out self defence at Inmarsat.
I thought Floyd's course was excellent - well
structured and with the correct attitude,
encouraging us to be careful as well as
assertive.'
INMARSAT
' I thought the course was very enjoyable and that
Floyd was an excellent instructor. The moves in
general seemed to be very effective if executed
quickly and properly.
I think some form of instruction or perhaps a
video is crucial if you seriously want to keep
practising.'
